台湾の英雄、Fire Ex．と出会って３年。顔を合わせればいつも朝まで酒を酌み交わし、音楽 のことや自分たちの国のこと、それぞれが思い描く未来のこと、なんでも語り合った。最後に台湾を訪れたときには、目を覚ますと５ 人の男が俺の部屋の床で寝ていて、どこに行っても気の合う連中はいるもんだと笑ってしまった。その前夜にかわした約束が、このイ ベントの開催だった。

初めてソウルでライブした夜。韓国の人気バンドたちの中で、全くの無名だった俺たちをイ ベントのトリにしてくれた。嬉しかったけど、正直みんな帰っちゃってんだろうなと思って上がったステージで耳にしたのは、人生で 初めて聞く大歓声だった。トッポギを買おうと訪れたホンデの屋台で、タトゥーだらけの兄ちゃんが「俺は日本が大好きだ」と言って 歯を見せて笑った一昨年の秋、尊敬する韓国のバンドマンが徴兵で軍隊に入った。

もっと隣の人のことを知りたい。テレビやネットなんかじゃなくて、じかに会って話がした い。音楽のこと、お互いのこと、未来のこと。繋がってさえいれば、困ってたらすぐに飛んでいけるじゃん。今回参加してくれるFire EX．とThorn Appleに最大の感謝を込めて、最高のライブをぶちかますよ。

It’s been almost 3 years since I met Fire EX. Whenever we meet, we end up drinking until the morning, and talk about many things such as life, our countries, and how we envision our futures. The last day I spent in Taiwan, I woke up to find 5 guys were lying on the floor of my hotel room, and I laughed at the fact that no matter where you are in the world you can find people you connect with.

The first night I had a gig in Seoul, they put us as the headliner amongst very popular South Korean bands. I was happy about that, but anxious at the same time, in that everybody left before we played. However, what I heard on stage was the biggest applause ever in my life from the audience. The last summer, I saw a guy with many tattoos at a food stall I visited to buy Toppoggi, and he smiled with his teeth while saying he liked Japan so much. That was the autumn when one of my most respected Korean band friend was drafted to the army.

I wanted to know more about the neighbors. Not through TV or the internet, but I wanted to converse face to face about music, each other, and our futures. As long as we are connected, we can be there for each other in a heartbeat if ever trouble arises. We’re gonna have great shows with the utmost respect for our fellow bands, Fire Ex and Thorn Apple.
